FOWD Tour launches!

Hey All

So FOWD London has been and gone in a flash. Thanks to all who joined us in Kensington. We hope you had fun! For those of you who couldn’t make it along – we have uploaded some of the videos onto the site if you want to check them out.

With FOWD London done and dusted – it was quite literally straight on with the FOWA Tour! We had a great time traveling to Edinburgh, Leeds, Cambridge and Bristol, meeting some cool folks along the way. We will be uploading the video from the tour very soon so keep an eye out on the site for those.

So what’s next?

How could we forget about you lovely design peeps?! Next on the agenda is the brand spanking new FOWD Tour! We are taking it on the road in September and bringing some top talks right to your door. We’ll be visiting:

Belfast – 2nd September
Bristol – 9th September
Glasgow – 14th September
Leeds – 16th September

We have released a limited amount of Earlybird and student tickets. Earlybirds are £39+VAT and Student tickets are £19+VAT.

Once these have run out tickets will rise to the full price of £59+VAT so you’ve got to be quick.

So what will you get for your money?

In each location we will have a morning of unique tutorials from some of the industries leading professionals including, *Andy Clarke *Simon Collison, *Brendan Dawes and *Drew McLellan. This will all be topped off with an afternoon of fabulous talks. We’ll also throw in some speed networking and of course the obligatory party in the evening:-)

Call for local speakers

We’re inviting one local speaker from each region to submit a proposal for a 30 minute slot. So if you have an idea about what the ‘Future of Web Design’ holds and you’re just bursting to tell it to the world, then now is your chance.

All you have to do is fill out this form and the lucky winner will be picked in the months leading up to the event in September.

For more information about the tour just visit the site and don’t forget to keep checking for updates.

Hopefully see you on the road.

New Speaker Title Announced!

Sabrina Dent, a veteran web designer and blogger is joining us at FOWD London and will be discussing: “Throwing Client Collaboration Out the Window: The Stalinist Web Design Model”

Sabrina says: “Web designers and agencies of all sizes almost universally promote themselves as agreeable team players in a collaborative partnership. But what happens when you throw that practice out the window and adopt a process that isn’t a collaborative creation, a model where you don’t give the client choices, and a project management style where you constantly say No to the customer? I will argue that the clients are just as happy, the end users are better off, and the design and build takes less time with fewer tears.

Eric Meyer Workshop

The awesome Eric Meyer, has agreed to grace our shores to run a special one day workshop “How to Build Great Web Sites in HTML5 and CSS3” on 9th March, in London.

In the first half of this special one-day workshop, we’ll take a quick look at how to set up your own full-featured web development environment for free. Then we’ll delve into the nuances of selectors, with an eye toward advanced CSS selectors and how they can make your CSS leaner and meaner than ever. This will be a look not only at the present state of selector support, but also its future and how you can jump right into the future today!

In the second half, table layout will be the order of the day. What’s that, you say? Not using tables for layout! Of course not, but instead taking table markup and laying it out in decidedly non-tabular ways. We’ll go way beyond the old table-as-bar-chart trick (though we’ll work with that one too) and play around with timelines, maps, and more.

In the process, you’ll break down some deeply ingrained habits and learn to look at your markup in a whole new way. That will provide a nice segue into the final topic of the day, HTML 5. Besides covering some of the differences between HTML 4 and HTML 5, we’ll take a swing at using and styling some of the new HTML 5 elements and discuss some of the current pitfalls.

Tickets are £375 please click here to book or for more information

Be great to see you there 🙂
